BaT Auction: 51k-Mile 2005 Ford Excursion Limited 4×4

This 2005 Ford Excursion Limited is finished in Pueblo Gold Metallic over beige leather, and its turbodiesel 6.0-liter PowerStroke V8 is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes 16″ alloy wheels, a 3.73:1 limited-slip rear differential, aftermarket shocks and sway bars, towing mirrors, a Tekonsha brake controller, heated front captain’s chairs, front and rear climate control, a touchscreen Kenwood stereo, Infinity speakers, and JL Audio subwoofers. The seller acquired the truck in 2016 and has since added approximately 15k of the 51k miles indicated. Service under current ownership included replacement of the tires, steering rack, heater core, shocks, and four glow plugs. This Excursion is offered with WeatherTech floor mats, uninstalled Hyperflex suspension bushings, owner’s manuals, partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The truck is finished in Pueblo Gold Metallic (G3) with matching bumpers and side moldings. Exterior features include fog lights, illuminated running boards, towing mirrors, tinted windows, a trailer hitch receiver, and a rear wiper. The seller states the front bumper was repainted in 2020 to correct rock chips. Blemishes on the front end and wheel arch flares are shown up close in the image gallery below.

Polished 16″ alloy wheels wear 285/75 BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires that were mounted in July 2017 at 38k miles, at which time the steering rack was replaced. A Tekonsha Prodigy trailer-brake controller has been added, and suspension modifications consist of the following:

  • Rancho Performance RS9000XL nine-way-adjustable shocks
  • Hellwig sway bars
  • Rough Country dual steering stabilizer
  • Hyperflex polyurethane bump stops front and rear
  • Load-balancing Roadmaster active suspension system

The interior is upholstered in beige leather and features heated front captain’s chairs with “Limited” script embroidered on the backrests. Amenities include front and rear climate control, third-row seating, and cruise control, and the heater core was replaced in October 2019. A power inverter was added under the second-row seat along with 115V AC outlets in the dashboard, the rear of the center console, and the rear cargo area. A touchscreen Kenwood Excelon DNX893S stereo with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto has been installed and integrated with the steering wheel controls; the rear entertainment system remains installed but is reportedly disconnected. Four cameras around the truck send a feed to the double-DIN display, and additional aftermarket audio equipment includes the following:

  • JL Audio XD700/5v2 700-Watt digital amplifier
  • JL Audio C5-570 front-door speakers
  • Infinity Reference side-door and rear-seat speakers
  • Two JL Audio 6W3v3-4 subwoofers

A multi-function steering wheel sits ahead of a 100-mph speedometer, a 5k-rpm tachometer, and four auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 51k miles, approximately 15k of which have been added by the seller.

The turbodiesel 6.0-liter PowerStroke V8 was rated at 325 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque when new, and a BulletProof 6.0L Square EGR cooler has been fitted. Service at Sawgrass Ford of Sunrise, Florida, in January 2020 included an oil change, replacing the glow plugs on the left cylinder bank, and an inspection.

Power is delivered to the rear or all four wheels through a five-speed 5R110W automatic transmission and dual-range transfer case. The rear axle features a 3.73:1 final-drive ratio and a limited-slip differential.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration activity in Oregon, Arizona, and Florida.
