BaT Auction: Coyote-Powered 1969 Ford Mustang Fastback 5-Speed

This 1969 Ford Mustang fastback was acquired by the seller about ten years ago and has since been overhauled cosmetically and mechanically. The car was placed on a rotisserie, rust repair was performed, and the body was refinished in black over a custom black interior. Power comes from a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 paired with a five-speed TKO-600 manual transmission and a 9″ rear axle. Additional modifications include 18″ Foose wheels, Wilwood brake calipers, 12.9″ slotted rotors, aftermarket suspension, fog lights, air conditioning, Mustangs to Fear (MTF) seats, AutoMeter gauges, a Kenwood stereo, and dual subwoofers. Approximately 1,400 miles have been added since completion of the project, and service in October 2020 consisted of winterizing the car and changing the oil. This modified Mustang is now offered in Canada with parts manuals, build photos, and transferable Ontario registration in the seller’s name.

The car is said to have been placed on a rotisserie, where rust was repaired before the body was refinished in black with subtle Boss 302 striping. Features include black bumpers and trim, fog lights, a front air dam, quarter-panel scoops, an integrated rear spoiler, and oval-tipped dual exhaust finishers.

Black-finished 18″ Foose wheels are mounted with 245/40 Nexen N3000 front and 275/45 Pirelli P Zero rear tires. The front suspension has been modified and a Heidts four-link rear setup has been fitted, while red-finished Wilwood brake calipers and slotted 12.9″ rotors have been installed at each corner. The car is equipped with power-assisted brakes and steering.

The interior features bolstered front bucket seats and a rear bench from MTF as well as an MTF headliner. Air conditioning has been added along with USB outlets, and the battery has been relocated to the carpet-lined trunk. Audio equipment includes a Kenwood stereo and dual 10″ subwoofers mounted aft of the rear bench.

A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of blue LED-lit AutoMeter instrumentation in a carbon-fiber MTF cluster. Gauges include a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows just over 1,400 miles, reflecting the mileage added since completion of the project.

The car was delivered new with an inline-six, which has been replaced by a 5.0-liter Coyote V8. The engine features a Boss 302 intake manifold, long-tube MTF exhaust headers, a stainless-steel exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers, and an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. The most recent service was in October 2020, at which point the car was winterized and the oil was changed by Expert Tech Garage of Timmins, Ontario.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Modern Driveline TKO-600 five-speed manual transmission and a 9″ rear axle with 31-spine axles and a 3.50:1 final-drive ratio. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
