This 1966 Porsche 912 Coupe was originally sold new by Niello Volkswagen of Sacramento, California in May 1966 and was acquired by the seller two years ago. The car was repainted its current shade of Tangerine in the late 1970s and is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a five-speed transaxle. Equipment includes black vinyl seats, chrome bumper guards, four-wheel disc brakes, dual Solex carburetors, a Pioneer AM/FM radio, and an aftermarket steering wheel. Service during current ownership is said to have included rebuilding the carburetors and overhauling the brakes. This short-wheelbase 912 is now offered with service records, manufacturer’s literature, a toolkit, five chrome hubcaps, and a clean California title.
The car received a color change to its current shade of Tangerine in 1979 and features a chrome AMCO-style front bumper bar, bullet-style side mirrors, chrome bumperettes, and 912 badging. PCA badges are mounted on the rear decklid grille, and blue California vanity license plates are mounted at either end.
Ventilated 15” steel wheels are mounted with Michelin XWX tires, and five chrome Porsche hubcaps are included in the sale. Maintenance performed under the seller’s ownership reportedly included replacing the brake lines, pads, and master cylinder, rebuilding the brake calipers, and repacking the front wheel bearings and drive axles.
The interior features front bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with perforated inserts along with matching door panels and squareweave carpeting. Additional equipment includes black rubber floor mats, a Pioneer AM/FM radio, and aftermarket speakers fitted in the doors.
An aftermarket wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts green-letter VDO instrumentation that includes a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, an ambient temperature gauge, and an analog clock. The five-digit odometer has rolled over at least once and currently shows just under 18k miles, only a handful of which have been added by the seller.
The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four is linked with a five-speed manual transaxle. Service performed under the seller’s ownership includes rebuilding the twin Solex carburetors, changing the fluids, and replacing the fuel lines.
