BaT Auction: 1974 Porsche 911 Coupe

This 1974 Porsche 911 Coupe is finished in white over tan and was acquired by the seller in 2017 following a multi-decade period of storage by its reported original owner. Power is provided by a 2.7-liter flat-six equipped with fuel injection and mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. During prior ownership the exterior was refinished and the seats were reupholstered, while work performed during current ownership is said to have included rebuilding the alternator, service of the fuel system, and replacement of the tires. This 911 is now offered with its factory jack and toolkit, blue California license plates, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in white, and the seller notes that the body was partially refinished during prior ownership. Equipment includes fog lights, US-specification ‘sugar-scoop’ headlight housings, dual flag mirrors, and black trim.

15″ Fuchs forged alloy wheels feature black pockets and anodized accents, and wear a set of Dunlop tires that were fitted in preparation for the sale. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, and the seller notes the calipers require servicing.

The tan interior includes replacement front seat upholstery and a matching steering wheel wrap. An air-conditioning system is integrated under the dash, and the factory radio was removed during prior ownership and is not included in the sale.

Factory instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows just over 55k miles, fewer than 100 of which have been added by the seller.

The 2.7-liter flat-six features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 150 horsepower with 175 lb-ft of torque when new. Service performed during current ownership is said to have included changing the oil, cleaning the fuel tank, rebuilding the fuel pump and alternator, servicing the fuel-injection system, and replacing the fuel lines, brake lines, and sway bar bushings.

Per the seller, a recent inspection noted an oil leak sourced from the cylinder heads. An additional photo showing the underside, engine, and corrosion on portions of the exhaust are included in the gallery below.
