This 1975 BMW R90/6 is a triple numbers-matching example that is powered by an 898cc opposed twin paired with a five-speed transmission and finished in black with white pinstripes. Features include shaft drive, a front disc brake, Weinmann rims, an engine guard, luggage and pannier racks, and a touring fuel tank. The bike was acquired by the seller in 2020, reportedly following more than two decades with its second owner, and was serviced in preparation for the sale with fluid changes in addition to a valve adjustment and tune-up. This R90/6 is offered at no reserve with Hepco panniers, a tool kit, an air pump, and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
Bodywork is finished in black with white pinstripes and includes a touring fuel tank with rubber knee bolsters. Additional equipment consists of a stepped two-up seat with a chrome passenger grab rail, a luggage rack, Krauser pannier brackets, a chrome engine guard, and both center and side stands.
Wire-spoke wheels with Weinmann alloy rims wear 3.25-19 front and 4.00-18 rear tires that will reportedly be replaced with a new set of the buyer’s choosing following the auction’s close. Suspension consists of a conventional leading-axle fork with rubber gaiters as well as dual shocks with chrome covers mounted to the swingarm on the left and the final drive enclosure on the right. Braking is from a single disc up front and a drum in the rear.
Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,100-rpm redline, and a five-digit odometer showing 13k miles, 500 of which have been ridden by the seller.
The numbers-matching 898cc opposed twin produced 60 horsepower when new and breathes through twin 32mm Bing carburetors as well as a dual exhaust system with chrome mufflers and a crossover pipe. Service in preparation for the sale included fluid changes, a valve adjustment, a tune-up, and torquing the cylinder heads.
Power is routed to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission, an enclosed driveshaft, and a final drive with a 34/11 ratio.
A tool kit and tire pump are included in the sale. Photos showing the number stamps on the frame, engine, and headstock plate can be viewed in the gallery below.
