BaT Auction: 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 at No Reserve

This 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 was purchased by the seller out of Colombia in 2018 and subsequently refurbished at his shop in Bogotá before it was imported to the US. Power comes from a 4.2-liter 2F inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case, and the truck is finished in green over black upholstery. A custom steel top with a white roof was fabricated by the seller’s shop, and additional modifications include an Old Man Emu suspension kit, a Vintage Air HVAC system, and a JVC Bluetooth stereo. This FJ43 is now offered at no reserve with refurbishment photos and a transferable Alabama registration.

A replacement tub, fenders, and doors were installed by the seller prior to a repaint in the truck’s current green. New glass and weatherstripping were installed during the refurbishment, and a factory-style hardtop with a white roof was fabricated by the seller’s shop. It can be seen up close in the gallery along with Temperlite glass etchings.

This is a re-list after the vehicle previously sold on BaT in April 2021 and the winning bidder failed to follow through with their commitment to purchase. This was not due to any fault with the vehicle. The winner has been banned from future participation on BaT and their buyer’s fee was not refunded.

Gray-finished 15″ steel wheels feature polished hubcaps and locking front hubs, and they are fitted with 33″ BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires. A matching spare wheel on a swing-away carrier is fitted out back. An Old Man Emu suspension kit and Nitrocharger Sport shocks were added during the refurbishment.

The front seats and rear benches are trimmed in black vinyl, as are the matching door panels. Rubber floor mats are fitted up front, and features include a white headliner, a Vintage Air HVAC system, and a JVC Bluetooth stereo.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-km/h speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit odometer was reset during the refurbishment and shows 18 kilometers (~11 miles). Total mileage is unknown.

The rear cabin features fold-down troop-style benches. A rubber mat covers the painted steel floor.

The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six was factory rated at 135 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. New galvanized steel exhaust system components were installed from the header back during the refurbishment.
