BaT Auction: Original-Owner 2004 Mazda Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata

This 2004 Mazda Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata was purchased new by its current owner at Frank Boucher Mazda in Racine, Wisconsin, and now has 17k miles. The car is finished in Titanium Gray Metallic over black leather and powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, a black convertible top, front and rear spoilers, 17″ Racing Hart wheels, a wind deflector, and a Bose audio system. This NB Mazdaspeed Miata is offered in Illinois on dealer consignment with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Wisconsin title.

Racing Hart 17″ wheels are fitted with 205/40 Toyo Proxes R28 tires showing date codes from 2004. The Mazdaspeed MX-5 featured a lowered suspension and stiffer springs compared to the standard MX-5 and also came equipped with Bilstein shocks and a front shock tower brace.

The cockpit features bucket seats upholstered in black leather with red stitching. Matching trim extends to the steering wheel, shift knob, and parking brake handle, and Mazdaspeed-branded floor mats line the footwells. Amenities include a Bose AM/FM/CD stereo, air conditioning, aluminum pedals, a wind deflector, and stainless steel door sills.

Silver instrumentation consists of a Mazdaspeed-branded tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, a 150-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 17k miles.

The turbocharged 1.8-liter DOHC inline-four was rated at 178 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque when new. An oil change was performed recently.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The window sticker shows factory colors and equipment as well as a total MSRP of $26,720. Manufacturer’s literature is also included in the sale.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in Wisconsin and Illinois.
