This 1977 Ducati GTV500 is powered by a 497cc parallel twin paired with a five-speed transmission and finished in two-tone blue with polished fenders. Features include alloy wheels, triple Brembo disc brakes, a two-up seat, both kick and electric starters, and street lighting. The bike was imported to the US from New Zealand prior to its acquisition by the seller in 2018. The front fender was replaced and fluid changes carried out under current ownership. This GTV500 is offered with a painted front fender and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Bodywork is finished in two-tone metallic blue paint with red and blue pinstripes, and is mounted to a dual-downtube frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. The bike also features a two-up seat with a passenger grab strap, a chrome headlight, and a center stand in addition to polished fenders, the front of which was replaced by the seller.
Alloy split-spoke 18″ wheels wear Bridgestone Battleax tires. Suspension consists of a conventional fork as well as dual shocks mounted to the swingarm. Braking is from dual Brembo discs up front and a single version in the rear.
The one-piece chrome handlebar features black rectangular mirrors on both ends. Instrumentation consists of a 220-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with an 8,500-rpm redline, and a five-digit odometer showing 14k kilometers (~9k miles), 1k of which have been ridden by the seller.
The air-cooled 497cc parallel twin produced 39 horsepower when new and features alloy cylinders with pressed steel liners, a single overhead camshaft, and a dual exhaust system. Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission and a drive chain. Fluid changes were carried out in 2020.
The California title reflects both the New Zealand Land Transport Safety Authority assigned VIN shown above and engine number, which can be viewed in the gallery below.
