BaT Auction: 2000 BMW M5

This 2000 BMW M5 was first registered in Nebraska and later relocated to Colorado, where it was acquired in 2015 by the seller’s father, who has since added 10k of the 78k miles indicated. The car is finished in Carbon Black over Caramel Heritage leather and powered by a 4.9-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes 18″ double-spoke wheels, aftermarket headlights, a glass sunroof, rear parking sensors, an Alcantara headliner, power-adjustable and heated front seats, navigation, and dual-zone automatic climate control. This E39 M5 is offered by the seller on behalf of his father with manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Colorado title.

The car is finished in Carbon Black (416) and features aftermarket headlights with washers, a glass sunroof, a trunk lid spoiler, and quad exhaust outlets. Stone chips on the front bumper as well as the leading edges of the hood and front fenders are shown up close in the image gallery below. The removed stock headlights are included in the sale.

Double-spoke 18” wheels are mounted with staggered-width Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires that show date codes from 2019. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and the seller states the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) module was replaced in March 2021. Curb rash and peeling finish is visible on the wheels, close-up photos of which are provided in the gallery.

The seating surfaces are trimmed in Caramel Heritage leather with a matching lower dashboard and door panels. Contrasting black leather covers the dashboard, and aftermarket carbon fiber trim accents the cabin. Amenities include power-adjustable and heated front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, Park Distance Control, dual-zone automatic climate control, fold-down rear seats with a ski bag, a remote CD changer, and WeatherTech floor mats. Scuffing on the driver’s seat is documented in the gallery.

The leather-wrapped M steering wheel frames gray instrumentation consisting of a 185-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a variable redline along with gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil temperature. The digital odometer shows 78k miles.

The 4.9-liter S62 V8 features double-VANOS variable valve timing and was factory rated at 394 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional underside images are provided in the gallery.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists history in Nebraska and Colorado.
