BaT Auction: 31k-Mile 1997 Chevrolet K1500 Z71

This 1997 Chevrolet K1500 is an extended-cab 4×4 pickup that was sold new by Tom Bannen Chevrolet in Madison, Tennessee and remained with its original owner until 2019, when it was acquired by the selling dealer. The truck is finished in Emerald Green Metallic over Neutral Custom Leather and is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range shift-on-the-fly transfer case. Additional equipment includes the Z71 off-road package, 16″ aluminum wheels, a 3.73:1 locking rear differential, the heavy-duty towing package, chrome bed rails, a trailer hitch receiver, a tilting steering column, and a factory CD player. This K1500 is offered with a window sticker, owner’s manuals, a Carfax report, and a clean Tennessee title.

The truck is finished in Emerald Green Metallic with black side moldings and chrome bumpers. Factory equipment includes pop-out rear windows, a passenger-side third door, Z71 graphics, and a GM Duraliner bedliner, while a trailer hitch receiver, side window deflectors, and chrome bed rails have been added. An accident in June 2020 resulting in damage to the front of the truck is indicated on the Carfax report, and the seller states the front bumper was subsequently replaced. Close-up photos of the body, glass etchings, and exterior blemishes are provided in the image gallery below.

Five-spoke 16″ cast aluminum wheels are mounted with 265/75 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires. The truck is equipped with speed-sensitive power steering and front disc brakes.

The front bucket and rear bench seats are trimmed in Neutral Custom Leather, and the cabin features a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, an overhead storage console, power windows and locks, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rubber floor mats, and a Delco AM/FM stereo with cassette and CD players.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel mounted on a tilting column frames a 100-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 31k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.7-liter Vortec V8 features sequential fuel injection and was factory rated at 255 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and a dual-range shift-on-the-fly transfer case. A locking rear differential with a 3.73:1 gear ratio was optioned from the factory. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.

The Carfax report indicates the aformentioned accident in June 2020 and shows registration history in Tennessee from new.
