This 2005 Ford GT is #1,785 of 2,022 produced for the model year and was delivered new to Middleton Ford of Middleton, Wisconsin. The car was acquired by the seller in 2014 and now has just 3,600 miles. It is finished in Midnight Blue over Ebony leather and is powered by a mid-mounted and supercharged 5.4L quad-cam V8 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and helical limited-slip differential. The vehicle is equipped with all four factory options, including painted racing stripes, a McIntosh CD stereo, BBS forged aluminum wheels, and gray-painted brake calipers. This Ford GT is being offered with a production certificate, a window sticker, car cover with a storage bag, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The first-generation GT was styled as an homage to the Le Mans-winning GT40 race cars of the 1960s and features aluminum body panels mounted over an extruded aluminum space frame with roll-bonded floor panels. This example is one of just 265 finished in Midnight Blue for the 2005 model year and features optional painted white racing stripes along with Ford GT-branding on both doors. Aerodynamic elements include a front splitter, rear lip spoiler, and a rear diffuser.
Optional BBS forged-aluminum wheels measure 18” up front and 19” out back and are mounted with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires sized 235/45 and 315/40 respectively. Braking is through Brembo four-piston monoblock calipers with an optional grey finish paired with cross-drilled and ventilated rotors. The car rides on double-wishbone suspension that consists of unequal-length aluminum control arms as well as coilovers and stabilizer bars. Curb rash is noted on the passenger-side front wheel.
The cabin is trimmed in Ebony leather and features manually-adjustable Sparco-designed seats with carbon fiber shells and GT40-style ventilation grommets. The center console encapsulates the fuel tank and carries rotary climate controls, a brushed aluminum emergency brake lever, and a shifter with an aluminum knob. Additional amenities include air conditioning, an adjustable steering column, power windows, and a factory-optional McIntosh CD stereo.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of GT40-inspired instrumentation that includes a central 8k-rpm tachometer, an offset 220-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, boost pressure, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows just under 3,600 miles, around 150 of which have been added during current ownership. The airbag recall has reportedly been addressed, and the seller notes blemishes on the steering wheel center cap.
The mid-mounted 5.4-liter DOHC V8 was factory-rated at 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a Ricardo six-speed manual transaxle with a helical limited-slip differential. Features include an aluminum block, cylinder heads, and pistons, as well as a Lysholm screw-type supercharger, a water-to-air intercooler, and a dry-sump lubrication system.
The window sticker shows factory colors and optional equipment, along with a total MSRP of $166,945. A Ford production certificate is included in the sale, along with a car cover and owner’s manuals.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and displays history in Wisconsin and Florida.
