This 1976 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 is finished in red over black vinyl and powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC inline-four fitted with dual Weber carburetors and paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, Carello headlight covers, backdated bumpers, PerTronix electronic ignition, a Vick Autosport tubular header, and a Magnaflow exhaust system. The car is said to have remained with its original owner before being acquired in September 2011 by the seller out of Georgia. An engine-out reseal in 2018 included replacing the water pump, thermostat, and radiator hoses as well as overhauls of the transmission, alternator, and starter. More recent work in preparation for the sale consisted of a PPI along with replacement of the rear shocks and axle straps. This Spider is now offered with the removed Spica fuel injection components, cloth seat covers, an owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in red with a black soft top and matching boot cover. Carello plexiglass headlight covers were installed during current ownership, and additional equipment includes backdated bumpers with rear license plate lights, dual side mirrors, a Quadrifoglio fender decal, and Pininfarina badges. The factory license plate light mounting holes were filled and the rear panel refinished in July 2018, while the soft top was replaced in 2011.
The 14″ Turbina alloy wheels were refinished in silver and are wrapped in 185/70 Laufenn G Fit AS tires that were mounted in 2018. The axle straps and rear shocks were recently replaced per the seller.
The seating surfaces are upholstered in black vinyl and were reconditioned, fitted with replacement foam padding, and re-stitched around a decade ago. Cabin amenities include a heater and a locking glove box, and a Pininfarina-branded radio blanking plate is fitted in the dash. The door seals were replaced in 2018.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames an 8k-rpm tachometer and a 140-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer indicates 71k miles, approximately 9k of which was added by the seller.
The 2.0-liter DOHC inline-four has been fitted with dual Weber side-draft carburetors and European-style camshafts. Additional modifications include a Vick Autosport tubular header, a Magnaflow exhaust system, K&N air cleaners, PerTronix electronic ignition with a Flame Thrower ignition coil, and an oil pan guard. A pre-purchase inspection was performed in May 2021, along with an oil change and compression test.
An engine-out reseal was performed in 2018, at which time the alternator and starter were rebuilt and the following components are said to have been replaced:
- Water pump
- Rear main seal
- Spark plugs and ignition wires
- Radiator hoses and cap
- Thermostat and gasket
- Radiator fan cowl
- Oil pressure sending unit
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, which was resealed and rebuilt with replacement synchros in 2018. The clutch hydraulic system was bled in May 2021, and the seller states that the clutch, upper oil pan, and fuel tank were replaced in 2011.
