BaT Auction: 1979 International Harvester Scout II

This 1979 International Harvester Scout II is finished in green with a white removable hardtop and white side graphics and is powered by a 345ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes locking front hubs, an AM/FM stereo, 15″ Rallye wheels, a luggage rack, and air conditioning. Maintenance reportedly performed two years ago included refurbishing the air-conditioning system and changing fluids. This Scout II was recently acquired by the selling dealer is now offered in Michigan with an owner’s manual, a line ticket sheet, and an Illinois title.

The truck was refinished in green with white side graphics under previous ownership according to the selling dealer. Features include a white removable hardtop, a chrome front bumper and trim, a luggage rack, and a split tailgate.

The 15″ Rallye wheels feature manually locking hubs up front and are mounted with 235/70 Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country Tour tires at each corner.

The interior features tan vinyl upholstery with matching carpets and a two-tone dashboard. The air-conditioning system is said to have been rebuilt two years ago, and additional features include an AM/FM stereo, cruise control, a center console with cupholders, and a fold-down rear bench seat.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal 100-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, the alternator, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 26k miles, although true mileage is unknown.

The carbureted 345ci V8 is said to have been serviced with fresh fluids two years ago under previous ownership. Power is routed through a three-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case.
