BaT Auction: 1992 Nissan Safari Patrol 5-Speed

This 1992 Nissan Safari Patrol is a right-hand-drive Japanese-market example that was imported to the US by the seller in January 2021. The truck is finished in two-tone metallic gray over gray leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter diesel inline-six linked with a five-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes the Kingsroad package, a front brush guard, auxiliary lighting, an AM/FM/CD cassette stereo, a third-row bench seat, locking front hubs, and 16″ three-spoke wheels. Work performed under current ownership is said to have included fluid changes, installation of a replacement windshield, and application of an underside rust-proofing film. This Y60-series Patrol is now offered with import documentation, spare parts, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.

The body is finished in two-tone gray and black and features color-matched wheel arch flares along with a factory high roof. Additional exterior details include a left fender-mounted mirror, a brush guard, auxiliary lighting, running boards, rain guards, and mud flaps. The seller notes that the windshield has been replaced, and an uninstalled replacement windshield is included in the sale.

Three-spoke 16″ alloy wheels wear Firestone Destination LE3 tires that were reportedly installed under current ownership. A five-spoke wheel with a Bridgestone tire is mounted to the rear cargo area door. The front axle is equipped with locking hubs, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs.

The cabin is equipped with three rows of seating trimmed in gray leather. Wood veneer trim accents the center console and door panels, and additional amenities include air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD cassette stereo, a rear cabin heater, and power windows, mirrors, and locks. The seller notes that the radio functions with a limited compatibility for US frequencies, and an FM modulator with Bluetooth functionality will accompany the truck.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames metric instrumentation including a 180 km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 71k kilometers (~44k miles).

The 4.2-liter TD42 diesel inline-six sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a limited-slip differential. The seller states that the clutch vacuum booster was replaced during previous ownership, and fluid changes were performed in preparation for the sale.

An underbody rust-proofing film was reportedly applied in January 2021, and additional images of the underside before and after the film was applied are are available in the gallery below.
