BaT Auction: 2002 Ducati ST4S at No Reserve

This 2002 Ducati ST4S is powered by a 996cc Desmoquattro L-twin paired with a six-speed transmission and is finished in dark red over a silver trellis frame. Features include hard-sided saddlebags, an adjustable Öhlins monoshock, Marchesini wheels, and triple Brembo disc brakes, while modifications consist of folding mirrors, an extended windshield, and additional seat padding. The bike was acquired by the selling dealer in April 2021, reportedly from its long-term second owner out of Texas, and subsequent work included replacing the timing belts, tires, and spark plugs, adjusting the valves, and changing the oil. This ST4S is now offered at no reserve in Wisconsin with a clean Texas title.

The bike was repainted dark red under previous ownership following damage while at a dealership for service. Features include color-matched detachable saddlebags, a silver trellis frame, an integrated headlight and front turn signals, and both center and side stands. The two-up seat was reupholstered with additional padding, and an extended aftermarket windshield is fitted. Scuffs are present on the bodywork.

Marchesini five-spoke 17″ wheels were mounted with ZR-rated Continental tires by the selling dealer. Adjustable suspension consists of an inverted Showa fork as well as an Öhlins monoshock mounted to the double-sided aluminum swingarm. Braking is from dual Brembo discs up front and a single unit at the rear.

The cockpit features individual bolt-on handlebars and aftermarket folding mirrors. Instrumentation includes a 180-mph speedometer, a 13k-rpm tachometer, a digital display showing fuel level, coolant temperature, and time of day, and a five-digit odometer showing 24k miles.

The liquid-cooled 996cc L-twin produced 117 horsepower and 72 lb-ft of torque when new and features four desmodromic valves per cylinder and Marelli fuel injection. Service carried out by the selling dealer included replacing the timing belts, adjusting the valve clearances, changing the oil, and replacing the spark plugs.

Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a hydraulic dry clutch, a six-speed transmission, and a drive chain.
