This 1953 MG TD is finished in silver over a black interior and is powered by a 1,250cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car was reportedly refurbished in the mid-1970s and was acquired by the current owner’s former husband in 1979. Equipment includes driving lights, chrome bumpers with overriders, a trunk-mounted spare, banjo-style steering wheel, and a Motorola AM radio. This MG TD is now being offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a car cover, owner’s manual, side curtains, license plate brackets, and a clean Wisconsin title in the owner’s name.
The exterior was refinished in its current shade of silver in the 1970s and features a black soft top. Additional equipment includes outboard fenders with running boards, driving lights, a fold-down windshield with wind wings, chrome bumpers with overriders, and Union Jack badges. Steel 15″ wheels feature chrome MG hubcaps and wear Unico PowerCruiser whitewall tires that should be replaced due to age. A matching spare with a chrome cover is mounted out back. Independent front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel drum brakes were standard equipment.
The interior features seats trimmed in black leatherette with matching door panels and carpets. Amenities include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, door pockets, a Motorola push-button AM radio installed in the glove box, chrome grab handles for the driver and passenger, and a carpeted parcel shelf behind the seats.
A banjo-style steering wheel fronts a black vinyl dash that houses Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 100-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, an ammeter, as well as gauges for coolant temperature and oil pressure. The leather on the steering wheel is torn and the five-digit odometer indicates 42k miles, approximately 1k of which were added over the last four decades. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1,250cc XPAG inline-four was factory rated at 54 horsepower and 64 lb-ft of torque. Equipment includes twin SU carburetors, a polished valve cover, and an oil-bath air filter. The car received an oil change and a replacement battery in December 2020. The seller recommends further mechanical servicing before being driven regularly.
