BaT Auction: 1970 Land Rover 88 Series IIA 4×4

This 1970 Land Rover Series IIA is a left-hand-drive 88″ wheelbase model that is finished in red over black vinyl. Power is provided by a 2.25-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission, an overdrive unit, and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a white roof, rear jump seats, and sliding side windows. The seller acquired the truck in 2019, reportedly from the family of the original owner. This Land Rover is now offered with a clean New Mexico title in the name of the seller’s spouse describing the truck as a 1969 model.

The truck is finished in red and white and features a galvanized front bumper and rear trim. Additional equipment includes sliding side windows, mesh-style headlight and grille guards, and dual side mirrors. Creasing and scratches are visible on the left-rear fender, and close-up photos of the paintwork and trim can be viewed in the gallery below.

White-painted 16″ steel wheels wear 235/85 Federal Couragia M/T tires. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs.

The cabin features Exmoor bucket seats up front and center-facing benches in the cargo area. All are upholstered in black vinyl. Shoulder belts are fitted for the front occupants, and additional features include a center console with beverage holders, pop-out windshield vents, and an open-storage glovebox.

Centrally mounted instrumentation consists of an 80-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four is paired with a four-speed manual transmission, an overdrive unit, and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes an aftermarket air filter housing and an Optima Red-top battery.
