This 1972 DeTomaso Pantera is powered by a 351ci Cleveland V8 paired with a ZF five-speed manual gearbox. The seller acquired the car out of South Carolina in 2016, and it has since been refinished in green over a black leather interior. Modifications include a replacement radiator and air-conditioning compressor as well as the installation of 17″ wheels and tires, and the car also features power windows and a Sony head unit. Service performed in April 2021 included rebuilding the carburetor and also replacing the spark plugs, battery, and starter relay. This Pantera is offered with an additional set of magnesium 15″ wheels mounted with tires, two other wheels and four unmounted tires, service records from current ownership, and a clean Louisiana title in the seller’s name.
The car was painted black when the seller obtained it, and it was subsequently repainted in light green. The Ghia-designed Pantera features a wedge profile, thin chrome bumpers, and quad exhaust pipes that exit beneath the rear valance.
Aftermarket 17″ Campagnolo-style aluminum wheels are mounted with 245/45 front and 315/35 rear Mickey Thompson Street Comp tires showing 2015 and 2016 date codes. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs.
The cabin is upholstered in black leather with matching carpets and trim. Equipment includes air conditioning and a vertically mounted Bluetooth-compatible Sony radio.
A three-spoke Lecarra steering wheel fronts Veglia instrumentation that includes a 200-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,900-rpm redline; gauges monitoring fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure reside in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 79k miles, approximately 3k of which were added by the seller.
The mid-mounted Ford-sourced 351ci Cleveland V8 was rated at 310 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller had the carburetor rebuilt, the oil changed, and the spark plugs, battery, and starter relay replaced at NolaSport of New Orleans, Louisiana in April 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transaxle.
A set of DeTomaso-stamped Campagnolo 15″ wheels mounted with Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires is included in the sale; one of the rear wheels has damage on the rim. Two other DeTomaso-stamped Campagnolo front wheels also will accompany the car, as will a set of unmounted Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
