BaT Auction: 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

This 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is finished in tan over a tan leather and cloth interior and is powered by a carbureted 5.9-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and a limited-slip rear differential. Equipment includes a roof rack, aftermarket fog lights, a trailer hitch, a CD player, and a center console. The truck was initially delivered to Expressway Jeep-Eagle of San Jose, California, and later spent time in the Southeast before being acquired by its current owner and relocated to New Mexico in 2021. Service in 2021 consisted of rebuilding the engine, servicing the brakes, and replacing the fuel pump, oil pan gasket, spark plugs, and carburetor. This Grand Wagoneer is offered with service records, manufacturer’s literature, a window sticker, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Mexico title in the seller’s name.

The truck is finished in Sand Metallic and features faux woodgrain paneling, aftermarket auxiliary lighting, a power-operated rear window, a trailer hitch, and a roof rack. Fade is visible on the woodgrain paneling.

Cast aluminum 15” wheels are mounted with thin whitewall tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, which are said to have been serviced along with the rear shocks, in preparation for the sale.

The tan interior features leather seating surfaces with corduroy fabric inserts. The driver’s seat was partially reupholstered in 2019. Equipment includes an aftermarket center console with cupholders and a locking storage bin as well as a JVC CD stereo with an auxiliary input. The seller notes that the air conditioning and right-side power seat adjustment do not work.

The two-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and frames a 100-mph speedometer as well as gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit odometer shows 171k miles, a handful of which have been added by the seller.

The 5.9L V8 was factory rated at 144 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The truck was factory-equipped with an optional automatic transmission oil cooler. An engine overhaul and radiator replacement were carried out by Holland Automotive Machine in Michigan in January 2021 prior to the seller’s acquisition. Service under current ownership included replacement of the oil pan gasket, fuel pump and lines, carburetor, and spark plugs, as well as a timing adjustment.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range Selec-Trac transfer case and a limited-slip rear differential. A differential seal is said to have been replaced in preparation for the sale.

The included window sticker lists initial delivery to Expressway Jeep-Eagle of San Jose, California, as well as standard and optional equipment adding up to a $29,409 MSRP when new.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in California, North Carolina, South Carolina, and New Mexico since 1992.
