BaT Auction: 302-Powered 1959 Willys Jeep CJ-6

This 1959 Willys Jeep CJ-6 is finished in yellow over tan vinyl and is powered by a 302ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes 15″ aftermarket wheels, half doors, rear jump seats, chrome bumpers, a custom roll bar, a bikini top, an aluminum dashboard, and an aftermarket stereo. The truck was refurbished and modified under previous ownership and was acquired by the seller in 2018. Recent service reportedly included an oil change and replacement of the starter, ignition coil, and battery. This CJ-6 is now offered with a tonneau cover, build process photos, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The replacement bodywork was painted yellow during the refurbishment, and contrasting black wheel arch flares were mounted. Additional equipment includes chrome bumpers and side steps, a custom roll bar, and tan cloth half doors with a matching bikini top and tonneau cover.

Turbine-style 15″ wheels feature yellow-painted insets and wear 31×12.5″ Pro Comp All Terrain RWL tires. Braking is handled by discs in front and drums out back.

The cabin features aftermarket front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in tan vinyl along with a matching spray-on floor lining. Equipment includes middle-row jump seats, an aftermarket center console, a Pioneer CD player, and aftermarket cabin speakers.

An aftermarket steering wheel sits ahead of a custom dashboard that houses a 160-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary instrumentation and switchgear. The aftermarket digital odometer shows 2,000 miles, approximately 1,000 of which were added by the seller. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

The 302ci Ford V8 was reportedly rebuilt and installed during previous ownership. Service performed under current ownership is said to have included changing the oil and replacing the starter, ignition coil, and battery.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The replacement frame was built by Throttle Down Kustoms, and additional images of the underside are available in the gallery below.
