BaT Auction: 4,500-Mile 2006 Ford GT

This 2006 Ford GT is one of 2,011 cars built for the model year and was delivered new to Republic Ford, Inc. of Republic, Missouri, in April 2006. It was relocated to California by the first owner and later acquired by the selling dealer in June 2021. The car is finished in Mark II Black over Ebony leather, and power is provided by a mid-mounted supercharged 5.4-liter V8 paired with six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The car is equipped with a Borla exhaust system in addition to silver painted stripes, a McIntosh CD stereo, forged BBS alloy wheels, and red-finished brake calipers. This GT shows 4,500 miles and is offered by the selling dealer with its window sticker, a car cover, spare front splitter, three keys, a service information CD, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.

The GT design was inspired by Ford’s Le Mans-winning GT40 race cars of the 1960s and features aluminum body panels over an extruded aluminum space frame and roll-bonded floors. This example is one of 292 finished in Mark II Black for the model year and features silver over-the-top stripes and matching rocker tape stripes with Ford GT lettering. Additional features include a front splitter, a vented hood, side air intakes, a rear lip spoiler, and dual center-exit exhaust tips above the rear diffuser.

Optional 18″ front and 19″ rear BBS forged-aluminum wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires measuring 235/45 and 315/40 respectively. The independent double-wishbone suspension features coil-over monotube shocks and front and rear stabilizer bars, while stopping power is provided by red-painted Brembo calipers over cross-drilled rotors that measure 14” up front and 13.2” out back.

The motorsport-inspired doors incorporate portions of the roof and open to Sparco-designed seats with carbon-fiber frames and GT40-style ventilation grommets. Amenities include an extruded aluminum center console, a McIntosh audio system, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, and power accessories. The Ford-branded door sills retain their blue protective wrapping.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a bank of toggle switches and GT40-inspired instrumentation including a central 8k-rpm tachometer, an offset 220-mph speedometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, boost pressure, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows approximately 4,500 miles.

The mid-mounted 5.4-liter DOHC V8 features a Lysholm screw-type supercharger, a dry-sump lubrication system, and an aluminum block, cylinder heads, and pistons. Factory-rated output was 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a Ricardo six-speed manual transaxle and a helical limited-slip differential. The selling dealer notes that the car is equipped with a Borla cat-back exhaust system and that battery has been replaced. The removed exhaust components and battery are included in the sale.

The window sticker shows initial delivery to Republic Ford, Inc. as well as factory colors, options, and a total MSRP of $166,945. A service information CD, car cover, spare front spoiler, three keys, and manufacturer’s literature are included in the sale.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Missouri and California.
