BaT Auction: 14k-Mile 2011 BMW 1M

This 2011 BMW 1M is one of 983 examples delivered to the North American market during the model’s single-year production run and is finished in Valencia Orange Metallic over black Boston leather with orange stitching. Power is from a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes manually-operated seats, a Harman/Kardon audio system, xenon headlights, 19″ wheels, black leather upholstery with orange stitching, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a BMW Professional CD stereo, and the car was ordered new without navigation. The seller has installed a Valentine One radar detector, a P3 vent gauge, an Evolution Racewerks charge pipe, and a TiAL blow-off valve. The car was registered in Kentucky and Mississippi until November 2016 when it was acquired by the seller and relocated to Indiana. This 1M has 14k miles and is now offered with a car cover, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.

The 1M was visually distinguished from standard 1-series cars with flared fenders, unique front and rear styling, and four exhaust exits. This car is one of just 435 North American-market examples that were finished in Valencia Orange Metallic (B44). Features include Shadowline trim, xenon headlights, tinted windows, and dual twin exhaust outlets. SunTek paint-protection film is said to have been applied to the hood, front bumper, front fenders, rear fender arches, and mirror caps.

Silver 19″ Style 359 wheels are mounted with 245/35 front and 265/35 rear Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires showing 2012 and 2016 date codes. Stopping power is from disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors at all four corners, and a brake-fluid flush was performed in preparation for the sale. The 1M shares its rear subframe as well as suspension and braking components with its contemporary M3.

The cabin features black Boston leather upholstery with orange stitching on the seats as well as matching Alcantara accents on the dashboard, shifter boot, and door panels. Manually-adjustable front sport seats have inflatable bolsters and extendable thigh supports. Additional equipment includes automatic climate control, cruise control, rubber floor mats, a BMW Professional CD stereo with a Harman/Kardon audio system, and a Valentine One radar detector fitted underneath the center stack. The seller reports that the cabin air filter was replaced in preparation for the sale.

The leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel has Motorsport stitching and features an M button for increased throttle response. Instrumentation includes a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, and inset gauges for fuel level and oil temperature. A P3 multifunction vent gauge has been fitted left of the steering wheel. The digital odometer shows 14k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership.

The twin-turbocharged 3.0L N54 inline-six drives the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential shared with the contemporary M3. Factory-rated output was 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, with an overboost function allowing for an additional 37 lb-ft of torque in short bursts. An Evolution Racewerks charge pipe and a TiAL blow-off valve have been fitted. Service in preparation for the sale included changing the oil and replacing the battery and air filter.

Additional underside photographs are presented in the gallery below.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage, an open airbag recall from February 2016, and registration history in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Indiana.
