This 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 was acquired by the seller in June 2017 and was subsequently refurbished on the TV show FantomWorks in 2018. The car is finished in red over black vinyl and is powered by a 302ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok differential. Equipment includes a “shaker” hood, a louvered rear window, a Hurst T-handle shifter, power steering, front and rear spoilers, chrome Magnum 500 wheels, and power disc brakes. Service during the refurbishment included replacing the clutch, repairing the bodywork, rebuilding the carburetor, and more as described below. This Boss 302 is now offered with a Deluxe Marti report, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Ohio title.
Originally Lime Metallic, the car was repainted in Candy Apple Red during a 2007 refurbishment under previous ownership. Features include a “shaker” hood, a louvered rear window, front and rear spoilers, and black Boss 302 “hockey-stick” side stripes along with a matching hood stripe and taillight panel. Work during the 2018 refurbishment included realigning the hood, replacing the bright work, and touching up the paint.
Chrome 15″ Magnum 500 wheels wear Mustang-emblem center caps and are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires with white lettering. Power-assisted front disc brakes were standard equipment, and the car is equipped with power steering. The suspension components were replaced in 2018.
The cabin features high-back bucket seats reupholstered in black vinyl with red accents and perforated inserts. Equipment includes woodgrain trim, a center console, folding rear seat, Hurst T-handle shifter, lap belts, and an AM/FM stereo with an 8-track tape player. The analog clock, horn relay, and passenger window glass were replaced by FantomWorks during the 2018 refurbishment.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for engine temperature and fuel level. Aftermarket VDO gauges for voltage and oil pressure are mounted in the center console. The factory gauges were repaired during the 2018 refurbishment and the five-digit odometer shows 13k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The G-code 302ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 290 horsepower. The carburetor was rebuilt in 2018, and the seller notes an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed close-ratio manual transmission and a Traction-Lok differential with a 3.50:1 final drive ratio. FantomWorks replaced the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate during the 2018 refurbishment, and additional underside photos are presented in the gallery below.
A Deluxe Marti report and manufacturer’s literature are included in the sale. The car and the seller were featured in a 2018 episode of the Motor Trend On Demand TV series FantomWorks.
