BaT Auction: 1994 Land Rover Defender 90 NAS 5-Speed

This 1994 Land Rover Defender 90 is #1,900 of approximately 2,000 North American Specification (NAS) examples imported into the United States for the model year. The truck is finished in Beluga Black over brown upholstery and is powered by a 3.9-liter V8 paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a roll cage, an ARB front brush guard, Method Racing 16″ wheels, and a Pioneer CD stereo. The seller acquired the truck out of Pennsylvania in 2008 and has since added approximately 6k of its 101k miles. This D90 NAS is now offered with a spare soft top, a set of hard side windows, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Oklahoma title in the seller’s name.

The aluminum body is finished in Beluga Black and features black wheel-arch flares and a matching black soft top. The NAS model featured an internal/external roll cage from the factory. Additional equipment includes an ARB front brush guard, red tow hooks, side step bars, Optimill door and windshield hinges, hard side windows, and a tubular rear bumper with a swing-out spare-tire carrier. Noted imperfections are shown up close in the photo gallery below.

Aftermarket black-finished 16″ Method Racing wheels are wrapped in 265/75 Nitto Ridge Grappler tires, and a non-matching spare wheel with a BFGoodrich tire is mounted at the rear. Braking is from power-assisted discs at all four wheels.

The front bucket seats and rear bench were reupholstered in brown leather and are complemented by a gray dashboard and door panels. Spray-on bedliner material has been applied to the floorboards, and additional cabin amenities include a Pioneer CD head unit with aftermarket speakers and a locking center console.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 101k miles, approximately 6k of which were added under current ownership.

The 3,947cc V8 was factory rated at 182 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine was rebuilt in October 2010 by O’Brien Auto Performance of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The distributor was replaced in June 2016, and the seller notes leaks from the engine seals.

Power is sent to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other issues and lists history in New Mexico, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma.
