BaT Auction: 2002 BMW Z8

This 2002 BMW Z8 is finished in silver over black leather and powered by a 4.9-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a Quaife mechanical limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a black convertible top, xenon headlights, heated seats, air conditioning, navigation, and a trunk-mounted CD changer. Modifications include 20″ Style 101 wheels, adjustable H&R sway bars, a Performance Package front strut bar, a UUC short-shift kit, an Audiovox MediaBridge, and Eisenmann mufflers. The car was first owned in Colorado and was acquired by the seller and relocated to Oklahoma in March 2015. This Z8 has 24k miles and is now offered with removed components, a removable hardtop, a hardtop stand, a hardtop cover, tools, literature, a coffee-table book, keys, a first-aid kit, service records, a clean Carfax report, and an Oklahoma title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Titanium Silver Metallic (354) with a power-operated black soft top. Exterior equipment includes xenon headlights, fender vents, chrome-trimmed mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper cover. XPEL paint-protection film has been applied to the bodywork, and the front bumper cover was repaired and refinished to remove holes drilled for a license-plate bracket. A removable hardtop, stand, and cover are included in the sale.

Gunmetal-finished 20″ Style 101 multi-spoke wheels have chrome lips with clera XPEL film and were mounted with 255/35 front and 295/30 rear Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. A set of removed wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season tires are included in the sale. The suspension has been modified with adjustable H&R sway bars and a Performance Package-spec front strut bar. Centric brake pads have been fitted, per the seller.

The cockpit features black Nappa leather that extends from the seats to the dashboard, center console, and door panels as well as matching carpets and floor mats. Equipment includes heated seats, air conditioning, leather-wrapped roll hoops, a spoked steering wheel, CD-ROM-based navigation system, and a concealed stereo with a six-disc CD changer. A UUC short-shift kit and a leather shifter knob have been fitted along with an Audiovox MediaBridge with bluetooth, satellite radio, and smartphone compatibility. A Euro-spec road-hazard triangle has been added to the trunk.

Centrally mounted instrumentation and includes a 155-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer shows 24k miles, 350 of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.9-liter S62 V8 features double VANOS variable valve timing and was factory-rated at 394 horsepower and 368 lb-ft torque. The seller states that the battery was replaced in preparation for the sale and that an oil change was performed in 2020.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a Quaife mechanical limited-slip differential. Eisenmann mufflers have been fitted, and the clutch delay valve was modified to eliminate its functionality.

The sale includes a car cover, tools, literature, a coffee-table book, keys, a first-aid kit, and service records along with removed components.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other issues and lists registration history in Colorado and Oklahoma.
