BaT Auction: 42k-Mile 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL600

This 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL600 is finished in black over two-tone leather and is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a removable hardtop, a black soft top, 18″ five-spoke AMG wheels, the AMG Styling Package, automatic climate control, a deployable roll bar, and a Bose sound system. The car was first registered in Delaware, and it relocated in 2010 to Maryland, where the selling dealer acquired it in August 2021. This R129 has 42k miles and is now offered by the selling dealer with factory tool and first-aid kits, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Maryland title.

The exterior is finished in black (040) and features a matching removable hardtop with a glass roof, a black soft top, xenon headlights, fog lights, and fender vents. The AMG styling package added a front spoiler, side skirts, and a rear apron.

The 18″ five-spoke AMG wheels are wrapped in 245/40 front and 275/35 rear BFGoodrich tires showing 2008 and 2009 date codes. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes as well as a self-leveling suspension with adaptive damping.

The cabin features heated and power-adjustable seats upholstered in two-tone black and gray leather along with a black dashboard and carpets. Amenities include a deployable roll bar, automatic climate control, cruise control, burl wood trim, a heated rear hardtop window, a wind deflector, an AM/FM/cassette stereo paired with a Bose sound system, and an integrated cellular phone featuring a handset stored inside the center console and additional controls concealed at the top of the center stack. A K40 radar detector has been added.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The odometer indicates 42k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the selling dealer.

The 6.0-liter M120 V12 was factory rated at 389 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other issues and lists registration history in Delaware and Maryland.
