BaT Auction: 7k-Mile 2012 Lexus LFA

This 2012 Lexus LFA is one of 500 examples produced over a two-year production run and is finished in Starlight Black over Saddle Tan leather upholstery. Power is provided by a 4.8-liter V10 paired with a six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox and a limited-slip differential. Additional features include carbon-composite bodywork, a retractable rear spoiler, carbon-ceramic brakes with Brembo calipers, heated and 10-way power-adjustable seats, a Lexus Insider infotainment system with voice command and navigation, and a Mark Levinson audio system. The car was delivered new to Lexus of Maplewood in Minneapolis, Minnesota and later spent time in Illinois and California before it was acquired by the selling dealer in July 2021. This LFA has 7k miles and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, a window sticker, LFA-branded luggage, three keys, a clean Carfax report, and a Montana title.

The LFA features carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer construction with aluminum front and rear subframes. This example is finished in Starlight Black (9J2), and aerodynamic aids include a vented hood, side air intakes, carbon-fiber side skirts, a speed-sensing automatic rear spoiler, and triple central exhaust outlets situated above a rear diffuser. Clear paint-protection film has reportedly been applied to the exterior of the car.

Polished 20″ forged BBS wheels are wrapped in 265/35 front and 305/30 rear Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires showing 2020 date codes. The car rides on a double-wishbone front suspension, a multi-link rear setup, and KYB monotube dampers with remote reservoirs all around. Braking is handled by carbon-ceramic rotors with six- and four-piston red-finished Brembo aluminum monoblock calipers.

The interior features heated and 10-way power-adjustable seats trimmed in Saddle Tan leather which extends to the lower dashboard, center console, and door panels. Carbon-fiber  trim accents the cabin, and additional appointments include a Lexus Insider infotainment system with voice command, navigation, satellite radio, and a 12-speaker Mark Levinson audio system with a DVD/CD changer.

The flat-bottomed steering wheel features an engine-start button and sits ahead of column-mounted paddle shifters. Instrumentation consists of a tachometer with a 9k-rpm redline, a digital inset speedometer, and a digital odometer indicating approximately 7k miles. The car was selected for factory quality confirmatory evaluation and was delivered with 73 miles.

The 4.8-liter 1LR-GUE V10 was developed in collaboration with Yamaha and features titanium valves and connecting rods, 10 individual throttle bodies, dry-sump lubrication, and VVT-i variable valve timing. Factory-rated output was at 552 horsepower at 8,700 rpm and 354 lb-ft of torque at 6,800 rpm.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed single-clutch Automated Sequential Gearbox and a Torsen limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery.

The window sticker shows factory colors and equipment as well as a total price of $396,600.

The included two-piece carbon-fiber luggage set features Tumi and LFA branding in addition to a barrel combination lock and a badge that matches the vehicle’s VIN. The car is also supplied with manufacturer’s literature, a vehicle order sheet, and three keys.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history Minnesota, Illinois, California, and Montana.
