BaT Auction: Superformance Daytona Coupe at No Reserve

This Superformance Daytona Coupe was ordered in 2008 via Reed Performance Motorsports of Maurepas, Louisiana. Its 412ci Dart V8 was built and installed by Bennett Racing Engines in Haleyville, Alabama and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Other equipment includes a four-barrel Holley carburetor, side pipes, fog lights, 15″ wheels with knock-offs, disc brakes, coilovers, Stewart-Warner gauges, and air conditioning. The selling dealer acquired the car in May 2021 and has since changed the oil. Now showing 3k miles, this Daytona Coupe replica is offered at no reserve with partial records and a clean Texas title that describes the car as a 2008 Assembled Vehicle.

The Superformance Daytona coupe was designed in collaboration with Peter Brock, and—like Brock’s original mid-1960s Shelby design—the Superformance version utilizes a steel space-frame chassis. This example’s fiberglass bodywork is finished in Titanium Metallic, and features include fog lights, a rear spoiler, and dual twin side pipes. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.

Black 18″ wheels with polished lips and three-ear knock-offs are mounted with staggered-width 255/45 front and 295/45 rear Nitto NT555 tires. Each corner is equipped with disc brakes and coilover suspension.

The cockpit features bolstered high-back bucket seats paired with five-point RJS Racing Equipment harnesses. Various driver switchgear is located ahead of the shifter in the center stack, and the car is equipped with air conditioning. The roll-bar supports extend toward the rear of the cargo area.

A three-spoke steering wheel frames Stewart-Warner instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 3k miles.

The 412ci aluminum Dart V8 was built by Bennett Racing and utilizes a four-barrel Holley carburetor, a TrickFlow throttle linkage, MSD ignition, and ceramic-coated exhaust headers. The oil was changed in preparation for the sale.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed Tremec TKO-600 manual transmission.

Specifications are listed on paperwork from the Superformance Owners Registry, and an engine build sheet is provided below.
