BaT Auction: 16k-Mile 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL600 at No Reserve

This 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL600 is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, and it is finished in metallic silver over black leather upholstery. The car was delivered new to Park Place Motorcars of Dallas, Texas, and remained registered in the state until moving to New York after it was sold on BaT in March 2021. It is equipped with a body-color removable hardtop, a black soft top, the AMG Styling Package, xenon headlights, 18″ AMG wheels, heated seats, a factory stereo and CD changer, and a Bose audio system. Work since the selling dealer’s recent acquisition is said to have included fluid changes and replacement of the tires, valve cover gaskets, and headliner. This R129 has 16k miles and is now offered at no reserve in New Jersey with a window sticker, a car cover, a hardtop stand, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New York title.

The body is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744U) and features a matching removable hardtop, a black soft top, V12 badging, and fender air vents. The AMG Styling Package adds a revised rear apron, side skirts, and front spoiler with integrated fog lights. The hydraulic cylinders for the soft top have reportedly been replaced, and the selling dealer states that a ceramic coating has been applied to the exterior. Paint meter readings are provided in the image gallery below.

Silver-finished 18″ AMG wheels wear 245/40 front and  275/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires. The car is equipped with electronic stability control and a self-leveling suspension with the Adaptive Damping System (ADS). The brake fluid was reportedly changed in preparation for the sale.

The cabin features power-adjustable and heated seats upholstered in black Exclusive leather, while burl walnut root trim accents the matching dashboard and door panels. Equipment includes automatic climate control, a factory stereo and trunk-mounted six-CD changer, a Bose sound system, cruise control, a heated rear hardtop window, and a deployable roll bar. The hardtop headliner was reportedly replaced by the selling dealer.

The leather- and wood-trimmed steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature, fuel economy, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 16k miles.

The 6.0-liter M120 V12 was factory rated at 389 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque when new. The valve cover gaskets were reportedly changed in preparation for the sale along with the engine oil, air filter, and coolant.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.

The window sticker shows factory colors and equipment, initial delivery to Park Place Motorcars of Dallas, Texas, and a total retail price of $132,195.

The car is supplied with a hardtop stand, a car cover, and a battery tender.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Texas and New York.
