BaT Auction: 1969 Plymouth GTX 440 4-Speed

This 1969 Plymouth GTX hardtop is finished in Ice Blue Metallic with satin black over a black interior and powered by a 440ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include front bucket seats, a center console, quad headlamps, hood stripes, rocker stripes, a Hurst T-handle shifter, a Dana positraction rear axle, 15″ Magnum 500 wheels, and a push-button AM/FM radio. The seller acquired the car in 2019 and service in May 2021 has consisted of replacing the spark plugs and ignition wires and setting the timing. This GTX is offered with spare parts, service records, historical documentation, trim tag information, and a Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Ice Blue Metallic and features an Air Grabber hood, black hood and lower body stripes, chrome-finished bumpers, brightwork trim and drip rails, dual exhaust outlets, GTX badging, quad headlamps, and reverse lamps. Cracking paint is visible near the rear bumper corner, and there is corrosion on the trunk floor, pitting finish on the rear trim, and chips on the doors.

The chrome 15″ Magnum 500–style wheels are fitted with white stripe tires and braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums. A set of Rallye wheels are included in the sale, and a full-size spare wheel and tire are mounted in the trunk.

The cabin features front buckets and a rear bench seat trimmed in black vinyl with a matching dash, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a center console, Hurst T-Handle shifter, a push-button AM/FM radio, a heater and defroster, crank windows, and wood veneer on the dash, console, and door panels.

The three-spoke steering wheel features a horn ring and frames a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows under 98k miles, 150 of which were added by the seller.

The 440ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and an Air Grabber induction system which is controlled from the cabin. Service in May 2021 included replacing the spark plugs and ignition wires, setting the timing, and an oil change.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Dana positraction rear axle. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.
