BaT Auction: 1998 Acura Integra Type R

This 1998 Acura Integra Type R is #606 of approximately 1,000 examples sold in the US market for the model year and is finished in Championship White over a black interior. Power comes from a 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes powder-coated JDM Integra Type R 16″ wheels, anti-lock disc brakes, a factory strut tower brace, air conditioning, a rear wing, and an Alpine CD stereo and speakers. The car was delivered new to Cerritos Acura of Cerritos, California, and subsequently acquired by the seller in 2012, after which it was sold to a friend in 2013 and reacquired by the seller in May 2021. This Integra Type R shows 93k miles and is offered with a window sticker, factory literature, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Championship White (NH0) with red Acura badges and Type R decals, a front lip, a rear wing, and an electric antenna. The seller notes the front lip was repainted under previous ownership. Photos of the body and trim along with VIN-stamped stickers are included in the gallery below.

Powder-coated JDM Integra Type R 16″ alloy wheels wear 215/45 Falken Azenis tires with date codes from 2020. The seller notes that Hawk brake pads were installed at all four corners, and that Spoon front brake discs were fitted in 2012. A set of 15″ eight-spoke stock wheels wearing 205/50 Falken Azenis tires with 2021 date codes is included in the sale.

The seating surfaces are upholstered in black micro-suede with cloth inserts and red stitching. Amenities include air conditioning, driver-seat lumbar support, an Alpine CD stereo and speakers, power windows, and a center console armrest plaque.

A leather-wrapped airbag steering wheel frames a tachometer with an 8,400-rpm redline and a 150-mph speedometer. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 93k miles.

The 1.8-liter B18C5 inline-four is equipped with VTEC variable valve timing and was factory rated at 195 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque. The seller notes that the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, and camshaft seals were replaced at 91k miles in 2012. The fluids were changed and a replacement Spoon air filer was reportedly installed in August 2021 in preparation for the sale.

Power is delivered to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential that is said to have a 4.7:1 final-drive ratio. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.

Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with two keys with fobs and a window sticker.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and displays history in California and Arizona. A potential odometer rollback is noted and the car was designated a Gross Polluter in April 2010. The car most recently passed a California smog test in April 2021.
