BaT Auction: 2-Mile 2002 Ducati MH900e

This 2002 Ducati MH900 Evoluzione is #854 of 2,000 examples produced and is accompanied by its original shipping crate and an official T-shirt, both of which display the matching production number. The bike is finished in red with silver graphics and derives power from a 904cc L-twin mated to a six-speed transmission. Features include a single-sided trellis swingarm, an integrated front fairing, an adjustable monoshock, triple Brembo disc brakes, and a hydraulic steering damper. The bike was previously bought new by IndyCar driver and Rahal Ducati Indianapolis (RDI) owner Graham Rahal and sold in 2014 to its second owner, from it was acquired by RDI in August 2021. Subsequent service included replacing the timing belts and changing the engine oil and brake fluid. This MH900e is now offered by the selling dealer in Indiana with manufacturer’s literature, a display plaque, a paddock stand, a shipping crate, a t-shirt, and a clean Missouri title.

The MH900e was designed in homage to Mike Hailwood’s 1978 Isle of Man TT-winning Ducati NCR 900. This example is finished in red with silver graphics over a matching tubular trellis frame and features an integrated front fairing and windscreen, a solo seat with a molded tail section, and a numbered fuel tank badge.

Five-spoke 17″ Marchesini wheels are finished in gray and wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires showing 2001 date codes. Suspension is handled by an inverted 43mm fork and a single-sided trellis swingarm with an adjustable Sachs piggyback monoshock. Braking is provided by triple Brembo discs consisting of two 320mm rotors with four-piston calipers up front and a single 220mm version at the rear. The brake fluid was changed in preparation for the sale.

A chrome-ringed 10k-rpm tachometer is mounted above a digital display that shows menu options, a speedometer, and an odometer indicating two miles.

The 904cc L-twin was rated at 74 horsepower and 56 lb-ft of torque when new and features satin black exhaust headers with chrome heat shields and an oil cooler. Service in preparation for the sale included replacement of the timing belts and an oil change.

Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a six-speed transmission with a dry clutch and a chain final drive.

Included in the sale are an owner’s manual, a display plaque, the bike’s original shipping crate, a single-sided paddock stand, and an official t-shirt customized with the bike’s production number.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.
