BaT Auction: 2002 BMW M5

This 2002 BMW M5 is finished in Sterling Gray Metallic over black Nappa Point leather and powered by a 4.9-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes a power sunroof, 18″ Style 65 wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, navigation, heated power-adjustable front seats, xenon headlights with washers, and Park Distance Control. The car was acquired by the seller in 2003 from Braman BMW in Miami, Florida, and recent service consisted of replacing the tires, thermostat, front brakes, and front thrust arm bushings. This E39 M5 has 71k miles and is now offered with service records, owner’s manuals, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in Sterling Gray Metallic (472) with Shadowline trim and features a power sunroof, a rear spoiler, xenon headlights with washers, fog lights, Park Distance Control sensors, and quad exhaust outlets. The lines for the windshield washers were recently placed.

Factory 18″ Style 65 wheels were recently wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires that measure 245/40 up front and 275/35 out back. The seller states that the front thrust arm bushings, front brake pads, and front rotors were recently replaced.

The cabin features seats upholstered in black Nappa Point leather with matching door panel inserts and titanium-color trim on the dashboard, center console, shifter, parking brake handle, and doors. The front seats are heated and power-adjustable, and additional equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, navigation, an Alcantara headliner, a powered rear sunshade, and M5-branded floor mats and door sill inserts.

The multi-function steering wheel is wrapped in black leather with tri-color stitching and frames a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a variable redline, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 71k miles, 69k of which were added by the seller.

The 4.9-liter S62 V8 features double-VANOS variable valve timing and was factory rated at 394 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The thermostat was recently replaced, and the seller claims the cars has been exclusively serviced by BMW dealerships from new.

Owner’s manuals are included in the sale along with service records from 2003 onwards.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in Florida from new.
