BaT Auction: 29k-Mile 2000 Mercedes-Benz SL600

This 2000 Mercedes-Benz SL600 is a silver-over-blue convertible that is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a body-colored removable hardtop, a dark blue soft top, burl wood trim, 17″ alloy wheels, a Pioneer Bluetooth stereo, and heated and power-adjustable front seats with memory settings. The car spent time in Massachusetts and Florida prior to the seller’s April 2018 acquisition, and it now has 29k miles. Service completed during current ownership included replacement of the spark plugs, belts, idler pulleys, crankshaft positioning sensors, and fuel system components. This R129 SL600 is now offered with its removed factory stereo, a wind deflector, manufacturer’s literature, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The body is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744U) with matching lower cladding, and equipment includes a power-operated dark blue soft top, a power antenna, xenon headlights, fog lights, and front fender vents. The Carfax report shows no history of accidents or other damage, and the included body-color removable hardtop is shown in the gallery below along with an unused wind deflector.

Five-spoke 17″ wheels with machine-finish faces were refinished in August 2018, and they are mounted with a mix of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ and Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 tires. The car is equipped with a self-leveling suspension system with an Adaptive Damping System (ADS), and the seller states ceramic brake pads are fitted.

The heated, power-adjustable, and multi-contour seats are trimmed in blue Nappa leather, and matching leather extends to the dashboard and door panels. Burl wood trim accents the steering wheel, console, and door panels, and amenities include memory settings, automatic climate control, cruise control, a deployable roll bar, Star-logo floor mats, and a Pioneer stereo with Bluetooth connectivity. Service completed in December 2020 included replacement of the dome light assembly and visor cap covers.

The steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, instant fuel economy, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates just under 29k miles, approximately 7k of which were added by the seller.

The 6.0-liter V12 was factory rated at 389 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque when new. Service completed during current ownership included a coolant flush and replacement of the following components:

  • Fuel sending unit, pump, and filter
  • Windshield washer pump and reservoir cap
  • Crank positioning sensors
  • Idler pulleys
  • Spark plugs and three ignition coils
  • Drive and accessory belts
  • Fuel purge valve
  • Acceleration sensor
  • Right header switch
  • Hood pad

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Additional photos of the underside are available in the gallery below.

Manufacturer’s literature, the removed factory stereo, and service records are included in the sale.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in Massachusetts, Florida, and New York.
