BaT Auction: 1976 Land Rover 88 Series III by Falcon Design

This 1976 Land Rover 88 Series III is a left-hand drive example that was built by Falcon Design of Munich, Germany for the seller in 2020. The truck is finished in beige over red leather upholstery, and power is supplied by a 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. Additional equipment includes a body-color removable hardtop, a center console with an integrated Marshall speaker and dual cupholders, a hood-mounted spare, galvanized trim, inward-facing rear seats, and body-color steel wheels. This Series III is being offered in Malibu, California with a clean Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC.

The tub, doors, and front fenders were replaced during the build and the truck was repainted in the Porsche shade of Beige Grey. Exterior features include a body-color removable hardtop, a galvanized front bumper and trim, fold-down windshield, and dual fender-mounted side mirrors.

Body-color 16” steel wheels are mounted with Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires, and a full-size matching spare is affixed to the hood.

The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in red leather with a matching dashboard. The center console is equipped with an integrated Marshall speaker, a storage box, and dual cupholders.

A red leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel frames a Jaeger 140-km/h speedometer and a Falcon-branded combination gauge. The five-digit odometer was reset during the build and shows under 1k kilometers (~600 miles), around 100 of which have been added by the seller.

The rear of the cabin features two rows of inward-facing jump seats upholstered in red leather.

The gasoline-powered 2.25-liter inline-four drives the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and dual-range transfer case.

Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery.

A handful of photos taken during the build can also be seen below.

The truck has not passed an emissions test in California and is currently titled in Montana.
