BaT Auction: 6.2L Vortec-Powered 1972 Chevrolet Blazer K5 Cheyenne Highlander 4×4

This 1972 Chevrolet Blazer Cheyenne Highlander 4×4 is said to have been refurbished under current ownership with installation of a 6.2-liter L92 Vortec V8, a rebuild of its six-speed automatic transmission, and a body-off repaint in metallic green which is paired with parchment vinyl and green plaid upholstery. The truck was reportedly purchased by the seller in California in 2019 and subsequently exported by him to Canada. Features include a white hardtop, a dual-range transfer case, locking front and rear differentials, manually-locking front hubs, a stainless-steel exhaust system, aftermarket air conditioning, and a Bluetooth-capable Kenwood stereo. This Blazer is now offered in Canada with Manitoba registration in the seller’s name.

During the refurbishment the body was mounted on a rotisserie and refinished in Dark Olive green, while the underside of the tub is said to have been coated with green-colored spray-on bed liner. Features include chrome bumpers, woodgrain-effect tailgate trim, and a single-wall hardtop that was refinished using white spray-on bed liner.

White-painted steel wheels are mounted with 31″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires. Manually-locking hubs are fitted up front.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in parchment vinyl with green plaid cloth inserts joined by a green-painted dash, parchment vinyl door panel inserts, and black carpets. Additional appointments include lap belts, a Vintage Air air conditioning system, a front center storage console with cup holders, and a Bluetooth-capable Kenwood stereo. The seller states that the tub was lined with soundproofing material and the weatherstripping was replaced during the refurbishment.

The replacement two-spoke steering wheel fronts Dakota Digital instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 156 miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The 6.2-liter L92 V8 was reportedly built by Miller Racing Engines of Winkler, Manitoba Canada with a performance camshaft, and it was installed under current ownership along with an American Autowire wiring harness, an RnD Fabrication aluminum radiator, and an electric cooling fan. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a six-speed 6L80 automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and locking front and rear differentials with a 4:10 gear ratio. The seller states that the transmission has been rebuilt.

The frame was reportedly sandblasted and painted black. A stainless-steel exhaust system with 2.5″ piping and twin mufflers has been installed. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
