Question of the Week: What’s the Best Thing You’ve Ever Strapped to the Outside of Your Vehicle?

It’s time for Question of the Week! Leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be automatically entered to win BaT merchandise. Our favorite answer each week gets a $25 hat or t-shirt from the BaT Gear Store.

As we near the end of the year, we’re starting to see more cars on the road with things strapped onto the outside: trees, skis, luggage, antlers (real or stuffed)… This got us thinking: we bet the members of the BaT community have some pretty good stories along those lines, and we’d love to hear them.

So this week’s Question of the Week is: what’s the best thing you’ve ever strapped to the outside of your vehicle?

We’re all in favor of creative interpretation of the question, but we aren’t thinking of performance parts like a giant Roots blower sticking through the hood. Exterior accessories (or whatever else you’ve put lashed to the outside of a vehicle) are fair game!

For reference, here are a few examples from cars that have shown up on BaT wearing interesting appendages.

When it comes to adventure gear, the sky’s the limit, as this overland-modified 4Runner demonstrates.

The luggage rack and vintage LV suitcase on this Tempero Jaguar XKSS re-creation removes the one most obvious barrier to driving it more often. That’s a win in our book.

Accessorized Porsche 911s have become immensely popular in recent years, and though there are much more extreme examples we could cite, we like the look of the period ski carrier on this 1973 911T.

Finally, this Range Rover County LWB has sprouted what appears to be either a hunting platform or some sort of mobile conference room on its roof.

But those are just a few thoughts fixed to the tops of our heads. We want to know what you think!

What’s the best thing you’ve ever strapped to the outside of your vehicle?

Last week’s question was: what are your favorite headlamps?

Congratulations again to our winners, Joe_Car_Guy and mrjirey. Enjoy your new BaT gear!
